Artist: Dimson, Theo
Prominent Toronto graphic designer Theo Dimson was known for his Art Deco-style movie and theatre posters and is often remembered as one of the most creative and innovative Canadian graphic designers.
Dimson was internationally recognized and received awards and accolades in books and magazine articles in countries around the world. His last show was a retrospective of his work in February 2010 titled "Distinctly Different - The Theatre Posters of Theo Dimson” at the Theatre Museum Canada.
He is the author of Great Canadian Posters and also created stamps for Canada Post. This particular poster was created to promote a limited run of Michael Hastings' play "Carnival War a Go Hot". It was directed by Pam Brighton and presented at TWP Theatre in Toronto.
We love the colors and the typography of this poster. It represents well the colorful aesthetic and the audacity so often associated with the 80s!
From the archives of the artist, in excellent condition and ready to frame.
