Artist: Dimson, Theo
Prominent Toronto graphic designer Theo Dimson was known for his Art Deco-style movie and theatre posters and is often remembered as one of the most creative and innovative Canadian graphic designers.
Dimson was internationally recognized and received awards and accolades in books and magazine articles in countries around the world. His last show was a retrospective of his work in February 2010 titled "Distinctly Different - The Theatre Posters of Theo Dimson” at the Theatre Museum Canada.
He is the author of Great Canadian Posters and also created stamps for Canada Post.
We love the colors and the typography of this poster. It represents well the colorful aesthetic and the audacity so often associated with the 80s! The play advertised here "Richard's Cork Leg" was first produced in Dublin in 1972. It was directed in 1982 by George Luscombe at Toronto Workshop Productions.
From the archives of the artist, in excellent condition and ready to frame.
