This original vintage poster was created for the play 'Vu du pont (A View From the Bridge) by Arthur Miller. Translated by Michel Dumont and Marc Grégoire, the play was directed by Serge Denoncourt and presented at the Théâtre Jean-Duceppe in Montreal during the 1993 Spring Season. Originally published in 1955, 'A View From the Bridge' takes place in an Italian-American immigrant neighbourhood near the Brooklyn Bridge. Starring actors such as Scarlet Johansson and Alison Janney, the play has been revived on multiple occasions in both New York and London and garnered multiple Tony awards.
This promotional poster was designed by Polish-Canadian artist Mieczysław Górowski. The artist studied at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts in the 1960s, and started designing posters upon graduating year in 1966. His portfolio boasts over 400 designs - many of which served to promote Montreal exhibitions and events.
This poster is in excellent condition and ready to be framed. This poster is available at l'Affichiste thanks to Marc Choko, Professor Emeritus at the Université de Québec à Montréal (UQAM) School of Design. A long time collector of posters, Choko has curated exhibitions and published on the subject since the 1980s.
