Posters are powerful propaganda tools. During the war, they served to reach and mobilize the population by various means and messages. This poster is promoting the purchase of Canadian victory bonds during the First World War. Canada's first domestic war loan was raised in November 1915, but it was not until the fourth campaign in 1917 that the term Victory Loan applied. This system is also useful as a means of controlling inflation in an overstimulated economy by removing money from circulation until after the war is concluded. Victory bonds did more than generate capital, they made civilians feel involved in their national militaries. The poster's french slogan 'hatons leur retour' (help them come home) is paired with the image of a tank driving on a road paved by loan certificates.

This poster measures 36 x 24 inches, is in very good condition and comes from the fabled Hans Sachs Collection.
